Maquet and Aesculap Announce Sales Partnership in the Field of OR Integration
RASTATT, Germany, January 25, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
Today, Maquet Surgical Workplaces and Aesculap announced their sales partnership. The two companies will make use of their expertise to jointly offer comprehensive OR integration solutions for endoscopy.
In today's complex ORs, surgical teams work with equipment from a wide variety of manufacturers, all of which need to be independently controlled and operated. Maquet has offered solutions for OR integration since 2006. From cameras and monitors to OR tables and lighting systems, Tegris OR integration allows surgical staff to operate virtually any element in the OR.
With Tegris, Maquet fully meets the requirements of state-of-the-art cross-disciplinary OR integration, while maintaining manufacturer independence in terms of OR equipment, as demonstrated by the integration of Aesculap endoscopy devices. With this development, Maquet is further expanding its position in the field of OR integration and demonstrating its openness to working with various manufacturers.
"The collaboration with Aesculap is yet another step toward the goal of centrally controlling all systems in the OR. This cooperation will enable customers to control all of the significant parameters for Aesculap endoscopic devices from the TEGRIS central control unit - without having to make any alterations to the devices," explains Markus Medart, President of Surgical Workplaces for Maquet GmbH.
The constant dialog with practitioners and clinical partners allows Aesculap to design and create instruments and devices for all surgical disciplines. The essential focus is not on what is possible technologically, but on what makes sense medically. Aesculap provides comprehensive product solutions for laparoscopic visceral surgery, gynaecology, urology and neuroendoscopy. Other surgical fields like arthroscopy and thoracoscopy are served as well. In addition to surgical instruments, trocars and ligation solutions, the product range also covers the endoscopic equipment including the visual system such as cameras, light sources and endoscopes.
"Sensible developments for us mean products that function in such a way that they decisively and positively influence the course of a surgical procedure, while not losing sight of economic considerations. This is further emphasized by the modern and intelligent interface for a Tegris OR integration and means that Aesculap technology can now also be used in the OR of the future," explains Hans-Peter Welsch, Senior Vice President, Aesculap Global Marketing.
The performance range resulting from the collaboration with Aesculap will be introduced for the first time at the Arab Health fair, from 28-31 January 2013, in Dubai. The Maquet booth in SAEED Hall 2, Stand D30, will present the very first device prototypes that are connected to the TEGRIS system and can be controlled by it.
