Manitou Group Receives Top Honors in Trophées des Achats for Collaboration with Dana on Hydraulic-Hybrid Powertrain Technology
MAUMEE, Ohio, July 14, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Dana Holding Corporation (NYSE: DAN) today announced that the Conseil National des Achat (CDAF), a French national association of procurement professionals, recognized Manitou Group for the Manitou MLT960 Eco-Booster 6-tonne telehandler. Developed in collaboration with Dana, this machine is equipped with Spicer® PowerBoost® hydraulic-hybrid powertrain technology.
Manitou Group received a gold medal in the Innovation for Business category during the 10th annual Trophées des Achats ceremony in Paris last month. The company was recognized for demonstrating innovation through collaborative work between a supplier and manufacturer. Each year, the Trophées des Achats highlight the diversity and effectiveness of purchasing departments at top French companies.
"Through Manitou's REDUCE program, we set out to develop new technologies that decrease both fuel consumption and emissions on our machines," said Laurent Gobinet, purchasing director for Manitou Group. "As a result of our collaboration with Dana, a huge milestone was reached in this program with the Eco-Booster telehandler. Our shared expertise and engineering abilities led to this innovative solution for the increasingly competitive agricultural telehandler market."
The MLT960 Eco-Booster hybrid is the first Manitou telehandler for agricultural applications designed with innovations that support a seamless integration of power from hydraulic-hybrid and internal-combustion engine systems. Manitou Group and Dana have collaborated in order to optimize the performance of the machine with the goals of minimizing total cost of ownership while also reducing the overall environmental impact. Extensive performance analyses of Spicer PowerBoost technology on the MLT960 Eco-Booster hybrid telehandler indicate a reduced fuel consumption averaging 15 percent across a range of duty cycles when compared with the standard MLT960 configuration.
"As a world leader in material-handling equipment, Manitou is shaping the future of the industry and the benefits of the Eco-Booster telehandler speak for themselves," said Aziz Aghili, president of Dana Off-Highway Driveline Technologies. "This award demonstrates how two companies with a shared vision for developing advanced vehicle technologies can work together to achieve new levels of efficiency to move the off-highway market forward."
