Manhattan Chamber of Commerce Honors President Nancy Ploeger
NEW YORK, Feb. 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- At an invitation-only celebration on Thursday, February 6, 2014, the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce (MCC) will honor its president, Nancy Ploeger, for 20 years of dedicated service. The exclusive event, at which 100 of New York City's top business and non-profit leaders are expected, will take place at the Manhattan offices of Con Edison (Edison Room, 4 Irving Place at 14th Street) at 6:00 p.m.
Since joining MCC as its executive director in 1994, Nancy Ploeger has represented New York City's business community on a wide range of critical issues including health insurance for small and medium-sized businesses, the certification of minority- and women-owned businesses, government procurement, small-business globalization and diversity, and the development of business resources for the service sector. She has grown MCC's membership and subscribers to more than 10,000 from roughly 250, launched a variety of economic development programs, and established relationships with officials at all levels of government, turning MCC into a small-business advocacy force with global influence. One of Ms. Ploeger's signature creations, the MCC Chamber of Commerce Foundation, created the means for MCC to collaborate with the economic development agencies of the city and the state, trade commissioners and international organizations to generate business for MCC members, and attract investment to New York.
In addition to her work as MCC president, Ms. Ploeger is a founding member of the International Women's Entrepreneurial Challenge and a member of the steering committee for World Trade Week NYC.
Also being honored are MCC executive board members and platinum partners, Peter Meloro (Con Edison), Joe Kirk (Wells Fargo) and Felix Malitsky (MetLife).
