MCLEAN, Va., Oct. 23, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Manatee HS (Bradenton, FL) continues to hold down the number one spot in the USA TODAY High School Sports Super 25 national high school football editorial rankings this week, the seventh straight week the school has remained at the top.
The USA TODAY High School Sports Super 25 rankings appear in today's print edition of USA TODAY Sports and are also available online at USA TODAY High School Sports (www.usatodayhss.com).
Manatee ran its record to 7-0 this past weekend on the strength of QB Cord Sandberg, who ran for two TDs and passed for three more in a 56-27 win Friday at Venice.
In addition to Manatee, the rest of the top 15 schools in the USA TODAY High School Sports Super 25 also held their positions in the rankings, with 7-0 John Curtis (River Ridge, LA) at No. 2, 7-0 DeSoto (TX) at No. 3, 8-0 Bellevue (WA) at No. 4, and 8-0 De La Salle (Concord, CA) rounding out the Top 5.
The only new addition to this week's list is Picayune (Mississippi), landing at No. 24 in the rankings. Picayune (8-0) broke into the Super 25 after rolling by East Central (Moss Point, Miss.) 48-7 on Friday as RB Doug Cross scored four TDs, including three rushing.
The USA TODAY High School Sports Super 25 is now in its 30th year as the most prestigious high school ranking platform in the nation. Gatorade is the Official Fuel of the Super 25 rankings platform, which includes computer rankings of every major high school football, baseball, boys and girls basketball and boys and girls lacrosse team in the nation.
