Malt-O-Meal® Helps Al Roker and The TODAY Show "Lend A Hand"
The Malt-O-Meal Company donates 500,000 servings of Better Oats® instant oatmeal to charities across the country
MINNEAPOLIS, June 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Malt-O-Meal, America's largest family-owned cereal company, today announced its participation in the NBC Today Show's "Lend A Hand" series with America's favorite weatherman, Al Roker. From June 13-17, Malt-O-Meal made contributions at Roker's five goodwill stops, totaling $150,000 in product donations to charities across the country, including today's donation to the Covenant House of West Virginia.
Malt-O-Meal's corporate communications manager, Linda Fisher, joined Roker in West Virginia to "Lend A Hand," donating more than 100,000 servings of the company's Better Oats instant oatmeal to the Covenant House. Malt-O-Meal also made a cash donation of $25,000 to assist the Covenant House in its continued program efforts for low-income and no-income families in Charleston.

In its tenth consecutive year, "Lend A Hand" continues its mission to help small charities that work towards improving conditions in their communities. Malt-O-Meal participated in each of Roker's five stops, donating $30,000 in product, the equivalent of 100,000 servings of oatmeal, to each nonprofit. This year's organizations included Alaska Pride in Anchorage, The Culinary Training Academy in Las Vegas, The House of Hope for Children in Houston, The Community Kitchens of Birmingham, and the Covenant House of West Virginia.
