Eight years ago, real estate developers Richard Morris and Ronald Coleman acquired the rights to a large oceanfront tract of undeveloped property on the western shore of one of the most famous coastlines and embarked on, as Morris describes it, "creating a serene and luxurious residential community catering to nature lovers and recreational enthusiasts seeking a peaceful, easy California lifestyle." According to Coleman, "the size of the property allowed large parcels, each with spectacular white water, island and mountain views. The opportunity was just too exciting to pass on and we decided to make it all that it could be."
Development on the California coast is not easy, but the partners were steadfast. Power lines along Pacific Coast Highway were undergrounded, the local water utility was acquired and improved, 20,000 native plants were added, a Monarch Butterfly and Botanical Preserve was dedicated and the land was returned to a pristine state.
By 2011 the improvements were complete. "It took us seven years to do all which was necessary, as we wanted every detail to be perfect," says Morris. "Buyers of rare Malibu oceanfront property are discerning. They're paying for and rightfully expect perfection, and MariSol delivers." Further, and of great importance, Coleman says, "MariSol's perfectly finished lots possess a one-of-a-kind exemption from coastal development permits and are not subject to City of Malibu restrictions, enabling owners to build to their dreams, in half the time and much less cost than in other Malibu communities. We like to say that homebuilding here is California Dreaming, MariSol-style."
The developers' planning and effort has paid off. At the prestigious 2011 Pacific Coast Builders' Conference, MariSol was honored with multiple awards, including, for its spectacular Showcase Estate, Home of the Year. Also, the project was covered in many local, national and international media outlets. As MariSol's inaugural year into Malibu's luxury real estate market closes, two homes are completed, two others are under construction and the developers welcome others who will add to this rare community of distinct beach houses. Lots are priced starting at $4 million and homes start at $14.9 million.
