The Makhteshim Agan Group (MAI) announced today the expansion of its operations in Israel through the opening of a new production facility based on a unique chemical process for aroma fine chemicals products. This unique process has been jointly developed with the research team of Prof. Motti Hershkovitz, at the Blechner Center for Industrial Catalysis and Process Development at the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev.
The facility, located at the Makhteshim site in Ramat Hovav, Israel will be used for the production of the Aleol[TM] product line scheduled to be released later this year. The new operations will strengthen the Aroma segment, where the Group develops, produces and markets fine aroma chemicals to the fragrance industry.
The facility has been designed and built to the most stringent environmental standards as part of the Group's commitment to environmental protection by using advanced production technologies in these fields. The initial production process was jointly developed by MAI and Ben-Gurion University and was later licensed to Makhteshim Agan by BGN Technologies, the technology transfer company of Ben-Gurion University.

As a leading academic institution located in Beer Sheva, Israel we are particularly proud to contribute to the continued building and employment in the Negev."
