Make Reservations Now For The Golden Quill Awards
PITTSBURGH, April 25, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Reserve a spot now for The Press Club of Western Pennsylvania's 48th annual Golden Quill Awards presentation, Monday, May 14, 2012, at the Sheraton Station Square Hotel, 300 W. Station Square Drive, Pittsburgh.
Winners of the Golden Quills competition, recognizing professional excellence in written, photographic, illustration, broadcast and online journalism in Western Pennsylvania, will be announced at the event. See the list of finalists at www.westernpapressclub.org.
Also that evening, Frank Gottlieb, retired news director for KQV-AM Radio, will receive the President's Award, honoring lifetime achievement in journalism.
The Press Club will also honor Woodene Merriman, retired managing editor/administration and restaurant critic for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, with this year's Service to Journalism Award.
Emily Petsko, a senior at Point Park University, will receive the 2012 Bob Fryer Memorial Scholarship for aspiring journalists, formerly known as The Press Club of Western Pennsylvania Scholarship.
The Golden Quill Awards evening will start at 6 p.m., with a cash bar and reception. Dinner and the awards ceremony will follow at 7 p.m.
