Make Reservations Now for the Golden Quill Awards

PITTSBURGH, April 20, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Reserve a spot now for The Press Club of Western Pennsylvania's 47th annual Golden Quill Awards presentation, Monday, May 9, 2011, at the Sheraton Station Square Hotel, 300 W. Station Square Drive, Pittsburgh.

Winners of the Golden Quills competition, recognizing professional excellence in written, photographic, illustration, broadcast and online journalism in Western Pennsylvania, will be announced at the event. See the list of finalists at www.westernpapressclub.org.

Also that evening, Marilyn Brooks, retired senior medical editor for WTAE-TV news, will receive the President's Award, honoring lifetime achievement in journalism.

The Press Club will also honor radio station WDUQ-FM with this year's Service to Journalism Award.

Adam Wagner, a native of the Pittsburgh area and a junior at Ohio University's Honors Tutorial College, will receive the 2010 Press Club of Western Pennsylvania's Scholarship for aspiring journalists.

The Golden Quill Awards evening will start at 6 p.m., with a cash bar and reception. Dinner and the awards ceremony will follow at 7 p.m.
