Each New Year, New You Scholarship will be applied at the rate of $500 per six-month term, renewable for up to four terms. Students enrolling in any of WGU Texas' 60 bachelor's and master's degree programs are eligible to apply for the scholarship. Applications are being accepted now through March 31, 2019.
For 2018 WGU Texas graduate Rachel Conard, her resolution led to a commitment when she enrolled in WGU Texas' MSN program. She wanted to earn a degree that would help her advance her career and planned to complete her degree in 18 months. Thanks to the university's flexible schedule and affordability, she was able to finish in a year. Conard also credits her success to the support from her mentor, who stayed with her through the entire process. "She recognized my competitiveness and pushed me to finish sooner," she said.
Designed to meet the needs of adult learners, WGU Texas' innovative competency-based education allows students to take advantage of their knowledge and experience to move quickly through material they already know so they can focus on what they still need to learn. WGU Texas faculty members work one-on-one with students as mentors, offering guidance, support, and individualized instruction. While WGU Texas' degree programs are rigorous and challenging, competency-based learning makes it possible for students to accelerate their progress, saving both time and money.
This scholarship is open to new students who have been officially admitted to WGU Texas. While multiple scholarships will be awarded, this is a competitive program, and scholarships will be awarded based on a candidate's academic record, readiness for online study, and current competency, as well as other considerations.
