Major Michigan auction to include irrigated cropland, hunting acreage, waterfront
SOUTH BEND, Ind., Oct. 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Approximately 1,119 acres of farmland and recreational land just north of Niles, Michigan, will be offered at auction Wednesday, Nov. 5, with Schrader Real Estate and Auction Company marketing the land and managing the event. The auction will include 361 irrigated acres.
In addition to the cropland, the auction will include two homes, grain storage and frontage on the Dowagiac River. The land is being offered in 17 tracts, ranging from two acres with a house to 210 acres.
"This is really beautiful land in Berrien and Cass counties, just a few minutes north of South Bend. We have a number of tracts that will be of interest to both investors and operators, with productive soils. Almost half the tillable land is irrigated, with six center pivots," said R.D. Schrader, president of the auction company.
"These recreational tracts have some very attractive features. For example, there's a 24-acre tract with woodlands, a pond with excellent bluegill and bass fishing, and a nice homesite overlooking the pond. Another has significant frontage on the Dowagiac River. The three-bedroom home has excellent views of Dowagiac Creek," Schrader added.
Schrader representatives will be available at the property to provide detailed information Tuesday, Oct. 28, from 4 to 6 p.m. The auction will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, at the Century Center, downtown South Bend, Indiana.
