NEW YORK, Nov. 1, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Major League Gaming (MLG), the world's largest professional video game league, today begins the official countdown towards its 2010 national championship – the highly anticipated championship rounds for its season long pro and combine competitions. The live finale will award huge cash prizes and coveted season titles to the winning pro team and elevate the most skilled combine winners to pro status. The 2010 Pro Circuit competition and the MLG Doritos Pro Gaming Combine finales will be held in Dallas, TX November 5 – 7, at the Hilton Anatole.
"MLG's incredible 2010 live circuit season will culminate in Dallas with our biggest and most intense competition of the year," said Sundance DiGiovanni, CEO of Major League Gaming. "We look forward to hosting the best U.S. and international gaming players in this season's most spectacular showdown."
Since the 2010 season began, MLG has hosted live pro circuit and combine competitions in major cities nationwide including Chicago, Denver, Nashville and Washington DC. Thousands of competitors will now converge in Dallas in the ultimate season attempt to establish dominance with featured game titles such as Halo 3, StarCraft 2, Tekken 6, and Super Smash Bros Brawl. The national championship also offers amateur gamers a chance to play against established pros to further prove their own capabilities and ultimately gain pro status.
All eyes are on the top ranked Halo 3 pro teams for the national championship – two in particular have been consistently outperforming each other throughout the 2010 season. Team Instinct and Team Final Boss have both claimed two key wins each in a total of four regional heats since the season began. Also under the microscope for the Dallas finals is Combine competitor Jordan "Amish Acorns" Dotzel from Mountaintop, Pennsylvania who claimed consecutive winning titles at the MLG Doritos Combine 2010 competitions in Chicago, Denver and DC.
The national championship event features the first-ever Halo: Reach competition on MLG's Pro Circuit. This recently launched and highly anticipated Xbox 360 game title also debuted on the MLG Doritos Combine Circuit competition this month attracting overwhelming demand and selling out competitor tickets in record time. Pro and amateur enthusiasts will also get their final chance to test their competitive skills on Halo 3 as the MLG featured title has its final showing in Dallas.
Championship spectators will get the chance to experience thrilling showdowns between top ranked pro teams and hotly contested favorites such as Final Boss and Instinct as well as watch them prepare for competition. The season finale also offers several featured events including:
- The National Championships of Halo 3, StarCraft 2, Tekken 6, and Super Smash Bros Brawl
