Major General Maria Gervais and Major General William Mullen to speak at Synthetic Training and Simulation
ORLANDO, Fla., Oct. 11, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The U.S. Army is looking to collaborate with cross functional teams, industry, and academia to develop the synthetic training environment (STE) and streamline the acquisition process.
The inaugural Synthetic and Simulation Training summit, taking place November 7 – 9 at the Marriott Orlando Downtown, will be providing the platform to discuss the future direction and utilization of virtual training & simulation technologies.
The summit will also feature out-of-the-box industry sectors such as augmented and virtual reality and gaming sectors to test previously un-thought of markets to advance training capabilities on the terrain they will eventually fight on.
Amongst an astounding lineup of military and industry speakers from PEO STRI, U.S. Army Contracting Command - Orlando, Lockheed Martin, UARC and more; Major General Maria R. Gervais and Major General William F. Mullen will be delivering keynote addresses.
"We need to improve our home-station training capability through simulations. As (Soldiers) enter into the live environment, they go in with increased proficiency. That's where I see the synthetic training environment is going to be the most beneficial. Today, much of the integrated training environment is actually operating on 1980s and 1990s technologies and limits training functionality," said Major General Maria R. Gervais.
Major General Gervais is the most senior leader within the synthetic training environment, while Major General Mullen is responsible for developing, coordinating, and executing training programs for the U.S. Marines.
Attendees will also be able to test, practice and explore some of the latest technologies, including products from Bohemia Interactive Simulations, VirTra, and Moulage Concepts.
