Magnolia Health Provides Preventive Screenings for Children throughout Mississippi
Magnolia Health Hosts Back-To-School Events to Help Promote EPSDT Screenings
JACKSON, Miss., Jan. 28, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Magnolia Health, a leading provider of healthcare coverage that improves care across Mississippi, hosted multiple back-to-school events around the state to encourage children to get their preventive screenings.
Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnosis, and Treatment (EPSDT) preventive screenings are key in children's healthy development. The screenings can help identify and diagnose health problems in children, so that they can be treated appropriately. The vaccines help to prevent diseases that are dangerous to children. To increase the awareness and availability of these screenings, Magnolia Health partnered with multiple organizations to host back-to-school events where EPSDT screenings were provided.
Recently, Magnolia hosted 18 events throughout the state. Magnolia partnered with the Choices for Children mobile unit and the Jackson Hinds Comprehensive Health Center mobile unit to provide a way for children to receive the necessary screenings at multiple locations. In total, over 1,000 EPSDT screenings were performed for Magnolia Health members in Mississippi.
"Magnolia Health is passionate about the health of children in the state of Mississippi," said Dr. Jeremy Erwin, Chief Medical Director for Magnolia Health. "EPSDT screenings are key to their healthy development. We are dedicated to providing awareness of the importance of these screenings as well as opportunities for our members to receive them."
