Magic Leap Appoints Brian Wallace Chief Marketing Officer
- Google, Samsung Alum Added to All-Star Executive Team to Help Oversee Cinematic Reality Market Strategy-
HOLLYWOOD, Fla., April 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Magic Leap, Inc., a developer of novel human computing interfaces and software, announced today that Brian Wallace has joined the company as Chief Marketing Officer. Wallace will work closely with Magic Leap founder, President and CEO Rony Abovitz to oversee all aspects of marketing the company responsible for creating a proprietary human computing interface technology, known as Cinematic Reality™.
Brian Wallace is widely known for his success at previous technology companies that include industry innovators Google, Samsung and Blackberry (formerly Research in Motion). Wallace was accountable for various marketing roles during his 11 years at BlackBerry. His position as Vice President of Global Digital Marketing & Media put him on the map as a true marketing innovator, helping BlackBerry to become the fastest growing company in the world (Forbes).
In 2011 Wallace was appointed Vice President of Strategic Marketing at Samsung and was tasked to develop a new vision for the Samsung Mobile brand. This vision became Samsung's "Next Big Thing" campaign, which has been widely written about from The Wall Street Journal to Advertising Age for its effectiveness, and for helping the Samsung Mobile Brand to eclipse Apple during the 2011 holiday period (YouGov). During his tenure Samsung increased their over-all Android market share by 300% and became one of the fastest growing brands of 2012.
From his tenure at Samsung, Wallace was most recently appointed by Google to Vice President of Brand and Product Marketing to oversee marketing at its newly acquired Motorola Mobility division. There he was tasked with Google's Motorola brand strategy and execution, product marketing, retail strategy and execution among other initiatives. He most recently led the launch of the Moto X phone successfully positioning the phone as one of the most innovative consumer products of the year.
In Dec. 2012 Wallace was named to the Business Insider "17 People Who Redefined Advertising in 2012" list. In Nov. 2012 Wallace was named to the iMedia 25 Internet Marketing Leaders & Innovators list. In Nov. 2011 Wallace was named to the Advertising Age Marketer A-list.
