SANTA CLARA, Calif., April 14, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Magellan today announced GoPro connectivity with its eXplorist TRX7 off-road navigator. The connectivity will allow users to navigate trails with Magellan, while controlling functions and capturing adventures along the way with GoPro. Earlier today, Magellan demonstrated this capability at a press event hosted by GoPro at Pier 35.
"We are pleased to welcome Magellan into the GoPro Developer Program, and are excited about the TRX7 off-road navigator's ability to add GoPro content into recorded tracks," said Adam Silver, director of strategic product partnerships at GoPro. "This is a great example of a company working with GoPro's toolkits to enhance the overall customer experience of their products while introducing new use-cases to our consumers."
Outdoor enthusiasts have incredible stories to share; GoPro's connectivity with the TRX7 allows these stories to be discovered, captured, and shared in an HD format like never before. The integration provides seamless connectivity between TRX7 devices and GoPro action cameras via Wi-Fi. Users are then able to use their GoPro in conjunction with their TRX7 to take HD pictures and videos along trail rides to either share with the larger off-road community or integrate directly in the form of saved waypoints.
At a press event hosted by GoPro today in San Francisco, Magellan demonstrated several of the TRX7's GoPro capabilities including preview, video start/stop, and video duration/recording icon display. Upon launch, many additional features will be available to users including playback, battery level and the ability to change capture mode. Additionally, users will be able to add photos from the GoPro and attach them to their recorded track or waypoint.
"We couldn't be happier to be a part of the GoPro Developer Program. GoPro represents passion, excitement and adventure, and is a natural fit for off-roading and our TRX7 navigator," commented Sam Muscariello, director of product marketing at Magellan. "This integration combines the best of off-road navigation and action cameras to bring enthusiasts an unmatched off-road experience."
The TRX7 is the ultimate off-road navigator. It features a 7" high-resolution touchscreen protected by a ruggedized IP67 shock-resistant casing, includes a genuine RAM mount (depending on model), hi-res (to 10 meters) 3D and 2D topo base map views, and easy to use interface for following trails, recording tracks, and marking waypoints. Crowd-sourced tracks provide a constantly updating library, allowing users to plan adventures, add pictures and comments to trails, and share with other off-roaders. The device also comes preloaded with over 44,000 designated OHV trails, making it the most comprehensive and purpose-built GPS navigator available for off-road enthusiasts.
