---The acclaimed artist known as the King of "Electronic Merengue" lands at # 4 according to the Monitor Latino list in the country---
MIAMI, Aug. 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The well respected Dominican producer and songwriter MAFFIO is amongst the top 5 on the list for "Monitor Latino" in the Dominican Republic landing #4 on the list with the single "No te Dejare de Amar," ('I won't stop loving you') which is his own musical production under the record label SpanGlish Global.
MAFFIO is without a doubt one of the most respected artists within the urban music genre. His single "No te Dejare de Amar" continues the rise to the top amongst hit surveys in the music industry. Last week alone he landed the #1 slot on the celebrated list of "Big Movers" on BDS Radio Latino's prestigious hit survey in the U.S. Producer of some of the biggest radio hits in recent years, ("Mi Alma Se Muere" [My soul is dying], "Eres mi Sueno" [You are my dream], "Super Estrella" [Super Star], and "Que Buena Tu Ta" [How fine you are], to name a few), he was born an innate musician, composer and singer. But above all, he is the undisputed creator of electronic merengue, a genre that is revolutionizing music and breaking molds.
"I am extremely proud and honored to have my country's support and the unconditional love from my fans to who I owe this amazing recognition. I'm also very thankful to all the radio programmers for their continued support of my music," said MAFFIO.
About MAFFIO:
MAFFIO was born as Carlos Ariel Peralta, on January 24, 1986, in one of the poorest neighborhoods in Santo Domingo, in the Dominican Republic to a housewife and cabinet maker who was also a music enthusiast.
His father gave him the nickname MAFFIO, which marked the name he used to launch his artistic career. "It started out as a joke," he notes. "My father used to call me 'mafioso' because I loved to watch movies about gangs like the "Cosa Nostra." I don't approve of what they do, but I do like the way they protect and look after each other. I think I've got the loyalty of a mafioso," he says. Although the word mafia has taken on a new meaning in his name, in its strictest sense, Ariel has spent his own life under that same unbreakable code of honor and loyalty to his family and his work.
He has the musical ear of a virtuoso. When he was only six years old, he distinguished himself in a school performance playing Beethoven's Fur Elise by ear on the piano. Formal music lessons never managed to kindle his enthusiasm, so instead he set for himself his own musical challenges, gradually perfecting his self-taught skills over the years, both on percussion and the piano.
When he was only 20, MAFFIO had the satisfaction of making his professional debut as a producer for Fuego, Pitbull and Omega with the tune "Mi Alma Se Muere" [My soul is dying], which made it into the Billboard Latin Rhythm and Tropical Airplay top 20, for 22 weeks. Since then the hits have just kept on coming. His talent, however, goes even farther, and Rico Cabrera, President and CEO of SpanGlish managed to discover this, signing him as an exclusive artist on his label which is dedicated to finding and developing the best exponents of urban music.
MI SONIDO [My Sound], MAFFIO's debut album as an artist, is scheduled for release this Fall. It's a record that promises to be a blend of fusion, rhythm and music that's ahead of the curve. "It's literally my sound, my way of showing my influences, Caribbean and Anglo, merengue and hip hop, in a different way," he says. The record will have contributions by guest artists such as DJ Kane, Ricky Rick, Fanny Lu, Gente de Zona, and Magic Juan, among others.
