Madison College Offers National Credential for Nonprofit Professionals
KANSAS CITY, Mo., Sept. 28, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Madison College, Madison, Wis., has joined the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance network, and will begin offering the nationally-recognized Certified Nonprofit Professional (CNP) credential through a completely online program, according to Susan T. Schmidt, CNP, president of the Alliance.
"We are excited to welcome Madison College into our network of top-rated colleges and universities," Schmidt said. "As our only affiliate in the state, this partnership will allow the thousands of individuals working in Wisconsin's vibrant nonprofit sector to access this exclusive leadership development program."
Kathleen Radionoff, Madison College's founding dean of the School of Professional and Continuing Education, said the CNP program fits with the educational interests of Wisconsin's continuing education students. "Our program participants are successful professionals interested in career advancement, particularly in the nonprofit sector. The Certified Nonprofit Professional program will be a perfect fit for those individuals."
The CNP credential is a proven leadership development program, promoting nonprofit career success. Independent research conducted by LinkedIn (2014) demonstrates that CNPs are seven times more likely to rise to director or higher level, compared to peers.
"This partnership marks a considerable milestone in the Alliance's 67-year history," said Schmidt. "Madison College is the first two-year institution to offer the CNP credential but they are a natural addition to our network."
Madison College's CNP program includes eight online courses as well as additional service and leadership requirements. As students complete each of the eight courses, they earn a digital badge that can be uploaded to their LinkedIn profile and other digital platforms. The CNP credential is awarded at the end of the program after all program requirements are accomplished. Madison College is enrolling students now for the first class in the CNP program, which begins October 1, 2015. Go to www.madisoncollege.edu/nonprofit-management for enrollment information.
Madison College is joining a national network of 36 colleges and universities that offer the CNP credential. In addition, the Alliance network includes thousands of national and local nonprofits that have endorsed the CNP program, including Make-A-Wish America, Fair Trade and YUSA.
