Macy's Stores And Customers Have Raised More Than $6 Million To Benefit Babies
"Shop for a Cause" Nationwide Supported March of Dimes
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., Sept. 5, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Macy's stores and customers have generously helped give more babies in their communities a healthy start in life by raising more than $6 million over two years, the March of Dimes said today.
Macy's seventh annual "Shop for a Cause" charity shopping event held nationwide August 25, 2012 raised more than $3.1 million to support the March of Dimes work to prevent serious infant health problems such as birth defects and premature birth. Added to last year's event, "Shop for a Cause" has donated more than $6 million total to America's moms and babies.
"This is the magic of Macy's and the magic of giving back," said Chad Royal-Pascoe, vice president of National Strategic Alliances & Cause Marketing for the March of Dimes. "Our long-lasting partnership demonstrates Macy's strong corporate responsibility. Thank you Macy's and to their customers for making 'Shop for a Cause' a huge success, but also for your generous donations that will help improve the health of moms and babies across the country."
Customers received 25 percent off most purchases when they bought a "Shop for a Cause" shopping pass for $5, all of which was donated to the March of Dimes. Participating customers also were eligible to win a $500 Macy's gift card.
"Giving back is a cornerstone of Macy's culture," said Martine Reardon, Macy's chief marketing officer. "Our customers had a great day shopping, knowing that they were furthering the March of Dimes mission for stronger, healthier babies in communities across the country."
