MacStadium Staged and Ready for Apple's Yosemite & New Mac mini
Company to Offer Immediate Activation of Hosted Mac Devices to Yosemite Operating System and the New 2014 Mac mini
ATLANTA, Oct. 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- MacStadium, the leading global provider of Apple Mac hosting, colocation, cloud computing and infrastructure-as-a-service (IAAS), today announced support and readiness in response to Apple's announcement of the OS X Yosemite operating system and a new faster, more robust Mac mini.
MacStadium is staged to immediately support the new operating system as a predefined option, meaning customers will have the ability to request Yosemite on both dedicated servers as well as private cloud services. Additionally, MacStadium's proprietary instant activation of new dedicated servers will support the new operating system, rather than having to wait for manual provisioning. Existing customers will have the opportunity to automatically upgrade their servers to the new operating system via the Apple app store, and receive free remote hands assistance, if necessary, via MacStadium's unparalleled technical support and customer service.
MacStadium meets the demands of the software development community through its "always on" dedicated Apple servers which are capable of running all versions of OS X as well as many other operating systems. OS X Yosemite offers shared frameworks between OS X and iOS. With application development technologies including Swift, Xcode 6 and CloudKit, it is now easier than ever for developers to share more software code across platforms.
MacStadium also announced support for the newly released Mac mini that will begin shipping today. Touted as the world's most energy efficient host, the new Mac mini features faster 4th generation Intel Core processors, Intel Iris and HD Graphics 5000, and PCIe-based flash storage.
This hardware will be available from the company for month-to-month or annual dedicated server subscriptions with instant activation as soon as Apple begins fulfilling volume orders. Current MacStadium customers will have the ability to upgrade from their current 2012 generation Mac mini to the new Mac mini hardware as soon as it is made available.
MacStadium exists specifically to serve the growing number of enterprises and businesses that have embraced the Apple Mac hardware platform and/or Apple OS X as their computing and IT platform of choice, and who are also looking for a flexible and cost-effective hosting solution.
"We understand the features, efficiency and flexibility that only OS X and Mac hardware can deliver, and we're ready to support these new Apple offerings," said Greg McGraw, CEO at MacStadium. "With today's announcement, MacStadium is equipped to help our customers quickly upgrade and take advantage of the new features and benefits offered by OS X Yosemite and the new Mac mini."
