MacStadium Closes $1 Million in Series A Funding
Capital Will Enable Mac Hosting Leader's Global Expansion
ATLANTA, Dec. 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- MacStadium, the leading global provider of Mac hosting, cloud computing and infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS), announced today it has closed $1 million in Series A equity funding from a private angel investor. The financing brings the total 2014 debt and equity funding for the company to $2.2 million. Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP, represented the company in the transaction.
This latest infusion of venture capital will be used to accelerate MacStadium's growth into Europe and the Asia Pacific region beginning in the first quarter of 2015, as well as to enhance new product development activities relevant to the company's core Apple IaaS and VMware cloud deployments. The funding was acquired after MacStadium's presentation gained attention at Venture Atlanta, an annual event where Georgia's top technology innovators meet the country's top-tier investors.
MacStadium's hosting services are designed to support the growing number of enterprises and businesses that need a world-class infrastructure and that also rely on Apple's Mac hardware and/or its OS X operating system as their computing and IT platform of choice.
"MacStadium is leading the way in dedicated Apple Mac hosting and cloud computing services," said Greg McGraw, CEO at MacStadium. "Many software and application developers require a Mac-centric environment for testing and design that can be managed and accessed globally via the cloud. By expanding into Europe and Asia Pacific, we can place hosted servers geographically closer to that region and reduce network latency loss in half or more, translating into increased testing efficiency and real dollar savings." MacStadium currently has developers accessing its hosted network from over 40 countries around the globe.
The company offers a secure, stable and affordable solution for companies through its "always on" dedicated Apple servers, which are capable of running all versions of OS X as well as other leading operating systems. Most companies are unable to test iOS applications on internal Linux or Windows servers, or on popular cloud services such as Amazon Web Services and Microsoft's Azure platform. MacStadium offers a solid alternate solution.
MacStadium also announced two new board members this week. They include Jeffery Jones, co-founder and CEO of Apto Solutions, a global leader in IT asset disposition, and R. Will Brooks, CFA, AVA and Partner at Brooks Schussler Company, a financial advisory firm where he is responsible for valuation and negotiation of real estate transactions in excess of $100 million.
Prior to launching Apto, Jeffery Jones served in key executive roles for World Access and Telephone.com where he was responsible for all aspects of the company's operations and financing activities, and helping the company raise over $5 million in private equity funding. Jones is also skilled in mergers and acquisitions, corporate case management and international transactions.
R. Will Brooks was formerly the President and co-founder of Security Check, a start up payment processing business that was sold for excess of $15 million. He is also a member of the CFA Institute and the National Association of Valuation Analysts.
"We are pleased to bring Jeff and Will to the MacStadium board," added McGraw. "Jeffery's experience in operations and international transactions will be immensely beneficial and Will's expertise in the financial services and valuation with private and publicly traded companies, will add greatly to our current board."
