Macrosoft Applauds National Emergency Preparation and Testing
Developer of Resources on-Demand supports the preparation plans by Government, Corporations and Individuals
PARSIPPANY, N.J., Nov. 8, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The first nationwide test of US Emergency System occurs at 2:00 pm EST Wednesday, November 9. The date was chosen because it is near the end of hurricane season and before the severe winter weather season begins in earnest. Even so, already this season, these weather systems have resulted in the extensive use of Macrosoft's Resources on-Demand software application, assisting utilities to manage their emergency power restoration activities.
"Because there has never been an activation of the Emergency Alert System on a national level, FEMA views this test as an excellent opportunity to assess the readiness and effectiveness of the current system," said Damon Penn, FEMA's Assistant Administrator of National Continuity Programs in a press release.
Similar to this national test, electric utilities test their emergency systems. Numerous utilities are turning to Macrosoft's Resources on-Demand to prepare for, manage and expedite their restoration efforts.
Specifically designed for electric utilities, Resources on-Demand is the industry standard and only storm center automation solution available to the marketplace. Resources on-Demand manages resource requests, tracks personnel movements, and supports lodging/logistics during power outages. RoD benefits utilities by achieving quicker restoration time, cost savings, and an overall streamlined approach to outage management.
Macrosoft also maintains the popular utility outage portal, Outage Central (http://www.outagecentral.com). Outage Central contains maps and outage data allowing individuals to quickly ascertain outage information in every state.
Outage Central recently launched a Web-based Mutual Assistance Group View in an effort to provide a forum to help utilities coordinate regional restoration efforts. It allows Regional Mutual Assistance Groups to communicate with each other to generate a larger geographical response to outage events.
