On December 17th, MRA invited the individuals involved in the organizations to its office to watch the stock and option execution process in real time. Each organization was well represented with fourteen people in total, including two 7th grade students from the Storefront school and two LEDA scholars who attend college in New York City. "We felt it was important to have the participating organizations present for the first trades of the day. Having everyone there brought the purpose of the day to life for our team," said Dean Curnutt, CEO and founder of MRA.
MRA selected the four organizations to participate in the day after an in-depth exploration of organizations that work to improve education for children of all ages. "It was a lengthy process, but it was well worth it," said Brian Bier, Head of Sales and Trading at MRA. "We wanted to represent organizations focused on promoting educational opportunity at different phases of development. In choosing these four, MRA's support will help young individuals from ages 4 through 22 achieve their potential."
Each organization represented by MRA's charity day has a unique vision and mission for education. The Storefront, an independent school located in Harlem, is focused on a holistic approach to education. BELL employs a more data driven model to help elementary and middle school students excel academically. iMentor partners with New York public high schools to implement its unique curriculum for effective mentoring by volunteers. LEDA develops the potential of outstanding public high school students from socio-economically disadvantaged areas in the U.S. through an intensive summer scholars program and college counseling. "There is an urgent need at every stage of a child's educational development for proper support, both academically and emotionally. These inspiring organizations provide educational services in unique, yet extremely effective ways to the children with greatest need," said Dean Curnutt.
