Mack Leads Bipartisan Delegation to Summit of the Americas
WASHINGTON, April 13, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Chairman of the House Subcommittee on the Western Hemisphere, Congressman Connie Mack (Fl-14) is leading a bipartisan delegation to the Sixth Summit of the Americas in Colombia this weekend to advance the security of freedom in our region.
The delegation to the summit includes members from the House Foreign Affairs Committee, the Homeland Security Committee and the Ways and Means Committee. Congressman Mack will meet with several Heads of State and business leaders.
Of the American mission to the Summit, Mack stated:
"Time and again President Obama has stood with the enemies of freedom like Hugo Chavez and Daniel Ortega while he drags his feet on free trade agreements with Colombia and Peru. The security of freedom depends on sending the right message to our allies. In the absence of leadership by President Obama, our delegation needs to deliver the right message to our friends at the summit that we will stand with them in their protection of freedom."
As Chairman of the Western Hemisphere Subcommittee, Mack has been a strong advocate of ensuring America recognizes the differences between our allies and our enemies, and that together with our allies we must actively promote our shared interests of freedom, democracy and rule of law throughout the Hemisphere and beyond.
Today Chairman Mack's Op-Ed piece "The Americas Summit and Obama's failed leadership" appeared in today's edition of The Miami Herald at http://tinyurl.com/785qjaf.
