Machinists, Hawaiian Airlines Reach Tentative Agreement

WASHINGTON, March 31 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) District 142 today announced it reached a tentative agreement with Hawaiian Airlines covering the carrier's 600 mechanic & related employees.

"This tentative agreement is the direct result of a strong, committed membership and a tenacious negotiating committee," said District 142 President Tom Higginbotham. "The negotiating committee unanimously recommends the membership ratify the agreement."

The four-year agreement includes a 5 percent wage increase on the date of signing, followed by annual increases of 3 percent, 3 percent and 4 percent. Additional improvements include increases in license premiums, skill pay, shift premiums and restored holidays over the life of the agreement, which becomes amendable in 2014.

A ratification schedule is being developed, but voting is expected to be completed early next month. Direct negotiations began on March 26, 2008, and continued with the assistance of a federal mediator beginning May 22, 2009.
