MAC Honors Health IT Leaders with Phoenix Awards
Four Atlanta organizations, individuals recognized for industry excellence
ATLANTA, Nov. 20, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Metro Atlanta Chamber (MAC), in conjunction with the Health IT Leadership Summit, selected four of the region's most innovative health IT industry leaders as recipients of 2014 MAC Phoenix Awards. Symbolic of the iconic "rising of the ashes" of the Phoenix – representative of strength, tenacity and leadership – the awards are given to companies that have made outstanding contributions to the growth of the health IT industry in Georgia. Winners were announced at the fifth annual Health IT Leadership Summit, held Nov. 20, at the Renaissance Waverly Hotel in Atlanta.

Awards were presented in four categories: Start-up Company of the Year; Emerging Company of the Year; University Advancement of the Year; and Community Leader of the Year. Winners are as follows:
- Start-Up Company of the Year: Sensiotec, Robert Arkin, CEO
- Emerging Company of the Year: Azalea Health, Baha Zeidan, co-founder and CEO
- University Advancement of the Year: Center for Health Information Technology, Georgia State University
- Community Leader of the Year: James R. Morrow, MD, Morrow Family Medicine
The awards program was created by MAC to highlight the major role the health IT industry plays in Georgia's economy. The health IT industry in Georgia leads the nation with more than 200 companies and over 30,000 jobs. The eight metro Atlanta companies ranked among the top 100 in the nation in 2014 by Healthcare Informatics Magazine have cumulative revenues of almost $5 billion.
