M-DCPS School Receives Standing Desks to Improve Student Learning, Health

MIAMI, Feb. 22, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Students at Hialeah Gardens Middle School (HGMS) are the latest recipients of LearnFit® Adjustable Standing Desks, a donation made through Fuel Up to Play 60 and the American Dairy Association & Dairy Council (ADADC) by Ergotron, in an effort to enhance health and learning. With several studies underscoring the negative effects of prolonged sitting, Miami-Dade County Public Schools and HGMS administration realize the importance of integrating sit-stand activity into the classroom for the success of their students.

Student, teacher, Ergotron and ADADC representatives will work together to unpack, assemble and install desks on Tuesday, February 23^rd. Students will learn more about how proper nutrition, such as starting the day with a wholesome breakfast, and physical activity, exemplified through the addition of their LearnFit desks, can promote better health and academic performance.
