Lytton Rancheria to Donate $1 Million for Victims of California Wildfires
SAN PABLO, Calif., Nov. 15, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The Lytton Rancheria Tribe, owner and operator of the San Pablo Lytton Casino in California, will donate one million dollars to victims of the Camp Fire in Butte County through the Tri Counties Bank Camp Fire Fund 2018.
"I am grateful and moved by the generosity of the Lytton Band of Pomo Indians," said Butte County Supervisor and Paradise resident Doug Teeter. "While people have lost their homes and possessions and are now sleeping in parking lots and shelters, kindness like this helps lift the spirits of our citizens and provides immediate relief. We hope others will see the generous example set by the Lytton Band of Pomo Indians and assist our community financially in any way they can. With this support for our community, we will rebuild above the ashes."
The Camp Fire Fund 2018 was established by Tri Counties Bank earlier this week to benefit victims of the Camp Fire, the deadliest and most destructive wildfire in California history. All funds collected will be distributed to people in need through local non-profit emergency relief agencies directly serving fire victims with immediate needs.
"Our Tribe is devastated by the destruction and loss of life and property happening in Butte County," said Lytton Tribal Chairperson Margie Mejia. "It is the Lytton Rancheria's deepest hope that our donation will help to support the victims of this tragedy as they begin to recover and rebuild their lives. We are also hopeful that this donation will inspire other companies and individuals to contribute anything that they can to assist the Camp Fire Fund, as all donations will be used to directly aid the victims and their families."
The Lytton Rancheria of California and San Pablo Lytton Casino are committed to aiding programs whose efforts significantly impact those most in need. Over the last several years, the Tribe and casino contributed over $18.5 million to underserved communities throughout the nation.
