Lynn University students participate in theatrical exchange program
Students traveled to Dublin, Ireland for scheduled performances
BOCA RATON, Fla., April 7, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Using just iPads, 12 Lynn University students who traveled to Dublin, Ireland on April 5, will live-stream a performance of Almost, Maine to students, staff and faculty inside the television studio in the Lynn College of International Communication. The performances will be live streamed on April 8 at 12:15 p.m. and April 11 at 2:15 p.m. The students, along with two professors and a member from technical support, will be traveling to Dublin as part of an exchange program with American College Dublin. The performance will take place inside Oscar Wilde's home and at the Dublin Theatre Smock Alley. The show, a romantic comedy written by John Cariani, will be performed twice during the students' trip, and then again when they return to Lynn.
"This is an opportunity that few students have," said professor Adam Simpson, "Our commitment to study abroad and our relationship with American College Dublin has given us the opportunity to showcase our talent with the world."
While in Dublin, Lynn University students will attend classes at American College Dublin, and will receive a lesson on Oscar Wilde the morning of their performance in his home. They also plan to visit Dublin's national theater and do some sightseeing.
The theatrical exchange program gives Lynn students the opportunity to visit and perform in Dublin, and American College Dublin students the chance to come to Lynn to showcase their talents. The students from Dublin will perform their production of Desdemona in the Schmidt Family Studio in the Wold Performing Arts Center on Lynn's campus April 30.
