Lynn University reports largest class since 2006
New construction keeps pace with campus growth
BOCA RATON, Fla., Aug. 25, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Lynn University today announced that it expects to welcome approximately 695 undergraduate students and 269 graduate students when the academic year begins Aug. 31. The class, projected to include 547 first-year and 148 transfer students, represents Lynn's largest since 2006, up over five percent from the same period last year.
International students from 45 countries will comprise approximately 23 percent of the incoming first-year class. The university is consistently ranked as one of the nation's most international schools by U.S. News & World Report.
"New student enrollment has increased by over 50 percent in the past five years," says Gareth Fowles, vice president for enrollment management. "As more and more students recognize the value of a Lynn education, we are also seeing admitted students' grade point averages continue rising. We are confident that our award-winning iPad®-powered curriculum, accelerated degree programs and forward-looking strategy for campus development have all contributed to the university's continued growth."
The university, which just completed several major building projects, also announced that it will begin construction on the first of several new residence facilities. The new residence hall for upper classmen is made possible thanks to a generous gift from Mary and the late Harold Perper.
"The Perpers have made a series of key investments in nearly every facet of our campus, enhancing our student experience in substantial ways," says President Kevin M. Ross. "Their gifts play a tremendous role in the transformation and progress of our campus, helping students truly feel 'at home.' We are grateful for the continued support, especially in helping our junior and senior students remain on campus."
The university recently completed construction of the Mary and Harold Perper Intramural Field, a lighted athletic facility, which will provide a venue for student activities day and night.
The Mary and Harold Perper Residence Hall will be located on the south end of campus on the site of the previous intramural field. The hall will house 170 students and should increase on-campus occupancy by nearly 20 percent. It is projected to open in fall 2017 and will seek LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification.
