Lynn University hires athletic director for national champion Fighting Knights
BOCA RATON, Fla., May 12, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Lynn University has appointed Devin Crosby as director of athletics for the NCAA Division II Fighting Knights. Previously, as deputy athletics director at Kent State University, Crosby helped raise funds for scholarships and facilities, improved student attendance at games and increased the national profile of the athletics program. He has also held leadership positions with other successful athletics programs at Northeastern University, University of Virginia and University of Houston.
Crosby was selected from more than 270 candidates in a highly competitive nationwide search. He will become the seventh director in the Fighting Knight's 30-year history.
"Devin comes to us with a passion for college athletics and a fundamental appreciation for the spirit, service and strength that drives our exceptional student athletes," says Lynn University President Kevin M. Ross. "He will be an engaging leader for Lynn's program, which has a winning track record not only on the playing field, but also in the classroom."
In his new role at Lynn, Crosby will be responsible for fostering the learning and service-oriented culture for which Lynn's sports program is known. The Fighting Knights were recently recognized as a winner of the NCAA Division II Community Engagement Award of Excellence, and nearly 70 percent of Lynn's student athletes earned a 3.0 or higher grade point average during the 2013-14 academic year.
"I'm honored to have the opportunity to help Lynn develop lasting relationships with the community," says Crosby. "Lynn University is a dynamic, innovative and special place, and I look forward to being a part of its mission to help students succeed."
Lynn's athletics program has grown to more than 240 student athletes earning an overall 3.31 GPA in fall 2014. The university has 34 Sunshine State Conference titles, and the men's sports program was awarded the 2014-15 Sunshine State Conference Mayor's Cup for athletic excellence.
The men's soccer team brought home the university's 23rd national championship in December, and the Fighting Knights currently have four teams competing in the NCAA Tournament.
