Luxury Retreats Counts Down the World's Best Beaches
MONTREAL, June 16 /PRNewswire/ - Where are the top beaches across the globe? Luxury Retreats is halfway through its countdown of the world's best stretches of sand, a list created as part of its celebration of beaches in the month of June.
The leader in luxury villa rentals (www.luxuryretreats.com) polled its knowledgeable staff to create the list, factoring in sand quality, accessibility to bars and restaurants, snorkeling options and whether the beach lends itself to nude sunbathing.
"Our staff has traveled so much over the years, especially to beach destinations, that we thought it was time to put together a definitive list of Luxury Retreats' favorite spots," said Ben Tuff, the company's Director of Marketing.
Caribbean beaches factor heavily, not surprisingly, taking 18 of the top 30 spots. Beaches in Mexico, Hawaii and Europe round out the countdown, with the first half of June seeing such entries as:
#26 - Red Beach, Santorini - A unique cove with russet sand. #24 - Ile de Pinel, St. Martin - A cay with no electricity or cars. #18 - St. Jean, St. Barts - The place to see and be seen (topless or not). #16 - Magen's Bay, St. Thomas - A classic Caribbean favorite.
The second half of the month will feature some of the most incredible sand on the planet, including popular beaches and a few lesser-known that Luxury Retreats has tried and swears by. Number six, for example, is located in the Riviera Maya and is tough to get to but worth the effort, offering uninterrupted miles of bright white beach bordering a bioreserve.
Number one is a closely guarded secret, however.
"The top pick came to mind for almost every staff member here, and these are people that have traveled a lot," said Tuff.
