Luo Feng (IZP): Big Data based ports eco-system is an effective way to increase the export volume for SMEs
BEIJING, Sept. 29, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- On September 24 (Local time), IZP group chairman Luo Feng, as a specially invited guest, attended the 2015 Colombo International Maritime Conference in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Mr. Luo gave a speech with the theme of building Sri Lanka based maritime center together with Hu Jianhua, the vice president of China Merchants Group. They explained topics including "Internet Big Data + Port" and port technology innovation. The speaker of parliament and minister of port of Sri Lanka, and executive secretary-general of India shipping department attended the summit and gave the keynote speeches.
This is the first time for Sri Lanka to hold a summit with the theme of maritime, aimed at achieving interaction between Sri Lanka's government leaders, industry experts and executives, jointly exploring the development direction of the South Asian regional shipping and logistics industry under the current background of sustained growth of the South Asian regional economy and increased enlarging of retail markets of production.
IZP group chairman Luo Feng said in his speech that IZP will cooperate with China Merchants Group to upgrade the port service, benefit and revenue model through the model of "Internet Big Data + Port". Both sides are engaged in building a big data based port eco-system to facilitate the cross-border trade of SEMs.
Also, in order to facilitate bilateral trade and direct investment, and enhance the economic development of China and Sri Lanka, Globebill, which is IZP's subsidiary focusing on cross-border settlement and clearing, will make investments in Sri Lanka to establish a Cross-Border settlement and clearing center facing the South Asian area.
Mr Luo Feng mentioned that Sri Lanka has the potential to be a financial center like Singapore. "Singapore "holds the Malacca" and it's a world financial center. Foreign companies finish their production in China and put the settlement in Singapore. Every year, there is a volume of 150 billion dollars of off shore settlement from China in Singapore," Mr Luo Feng said, "Compared with Singapore, Sri Lanka has several geopolitical advantages. The valuable maritime location, the natural deepwater port Colombo and the highly-qualified workers make Sri Lanka the gateway to the South Asian market which boasts a population of 1.6 billion population. Together with China, right now it's a great opportunity to make Sri Lanka a new financial center in the South Asian Area."
Now, Sri Lanka is playing an important role in the global maritime system. China holds the biggest trade volume in the world. And, China is Sri Lanka's second biggest importer and biggest investor in Sri Lanka. There's strategic significance to strengthening the economic and trade cooperation between China and Sri Lanka.
