A request for applications is available on LCFA's website (http://www.lcfamerica.org) now through June 30. Researchers can submit their applications for review and two will be chosen to receive the LCFA/IASLC Lori Monroe Scholarship in Translational Lung Cancer Research to be paid over two years.
"This kind of private donor funding is currently the lifeline for researchers seeking more effective treatments for lung cancer, even though it's the number one cancer killer in America," said LCFA President and Co-Founder Kim Norris. "We are committed to helping pioneering researchers do the work needed to help give lung cancer patients greater hope for prolonged lives."
"The LCFA/IASLC grant I received really kept my lab going for a two year period and we were able to get a lot of preliminary data, so it was really important," said Jessica Donington, M.D. who received a grant for her work at NYU Langone Medical Center.
