Lung Cancer Alliance Expands Senior Executive Team
Appoints Kimberly Woods-Smith to serve as Director of Medical and Science Outreach
WASHINGTON, Jan. 13, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today, Lung Cancer Alliance (LCA) announced the expansion of its senior management team with the appointment of Kimberly Woods-Smith, RN, BSN as its new Director of Science and Medical Outreach.
In this capacity, Kim Woods-Smith will have strategic and operational responsibility for interfacing with the Scientific and Medical community, researchers and other professional societies to foster deeper collaborations around LCA's core programs and initiatives.
Woods-Smith will monitor developments in the lung cancer research pipeline and translate findings for consumer consumption to LCA stakeholders and the general public via LCA's uniquely tailored consumer and patient centric formats. Woods-Smith will also serve as the primary point of contact for LCA's Medical and Professional Advisory Board.

Woods-Smith brings over 24 years experience as a health care professional. She is highly respected in medical and advocacy circles with decades of experience interacting with doctors, researchers, volunteers, and other health care and policy professionals with a special clinical interest in lung cancer screening, lung cancer care standards and clinical implementation, thoracic oncology as well as research and patient centric quality of care improvement initiatives.
Woods-Smith was instrumental in helping to establish LCA's Georgia chapter based in Atlanta and will continue to support LCA state chapter growth nationwide. She is an ONS member and a nursing graduate of the University of Michigan
