Lunchables Lunch Combinations And Boys & Girls Clubs Of America Celebrate Children With Day For Kids Atlanta
ATLANTA, Sept. 6, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Lunchables Lunch Combinations is rallying support for Boys & Girls Clubs of America by partnering with the organization for its national Day for Kids initiative during September. Day for Kids features community events that are a great excuse to get out and amp up the fun with children in your community. Events also help raise awareness and funds for Boys & Girls Clubs, helping children across the country in achieving long-term success.
Atlanta will kick-off Day for Kids with a larger-than-life field day event on Saturday, Sept. 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Piedmont Park between 10th Street and Charles Allen Drive. Hundreds of adults will compete in field day games, including tug-of-war, dodge ball and a wacky relay race, to raise awareness and funds for the life-changing work taking place at Boys & Girls Clubs.
Grammy award-winning R&B artist and Boys & Girls Club alumni and ambassador Ne-Yo will be making a special appearance at the kick-off event along with Olympic track and field gold medalists Gail Devers and Jackie Joyner-Kersee.
Regional events will take place in Los Angeles, New York and Dallas throughout the month, with hundreds of Boys & Girls Clubs nationwide holding events on the official Day for Kids, Sept. 21.
Lunchables' presence at the events will include sampling, fun activities and even a guest appearance by the beloved Oscar Mayer Wienermobile Vehicle.
"Every day, more than 15 million children are alone after school without adult supervision," said Joe Fragnito, vice president of marketing, Lunchables Lunch Combinations. "We are thrilled to partner with Boys & Girls Clubs of America to encourage adults and kids to spend more quality time together."
The event is part of a five-year partnership between Lunchables and Boys & Girls Clubs of America to promote fun and active lifestyles for kids, which includes a $200,000 per year donation over the next five years, up to $1 million, from Lunchables.
"Day for Kids events not only provide a great opportunity for adults to re-experience their childhood, they also shed light on the life-changing work taking place at Boys & Girls Clubs nationwide," said Jim Clark, president and CEO, Boys & Girls Clubs of America. "We hope communities around the country will come out and support Day for Kids events throughout the month of September, to help us build great futures for youth around the country."
