ARLINGTON, Va., Oct. 22, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Lunarline Vice President of Cyber Security, Dr. Julie Mehan, appeared on CNBC's Street Signs recently to address Defense Secretary Leon Panetta's comments about the threat of cyber attacks on the United States. Panetta warned "the collective result of these kinds of attacks could be a cyber Pearl Harbor, an attack that would cause physical destruction and the loss of life."

Dr. Mehan commented on the cyber threat to the United States. She emphasized that while our industrial base and infrastructure could face devastating attacks, we also need to worry about the significant amount of critical information held by both companies and the Federal government. Mehan stated, "It is not just about the devastating attack that will bring [organizations] grinding to their knees, it is also about the amount of information that is being exfiltrated on a daily basis, our intellectual property."
Mehan goes on to say that our internet usage is not expected to go down anytime soon, as it is a critical support to our infrastructure, but Americans must be vigilant in proactively addressing attacks on our nation by nation states, hacktivists, and cyber criminals alike.
