LULAC, Community Organizations, and Elected Officials Join to Talk Education Options at East Austin Event
AUSTIN, Texas, Jan. 15, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Austin parents can learn about their community's K-12 education options at the "East Austin Parent Education Empowerment Summit" during National School Choice Week 2015, organizers announced today. The event will be held on January 24, 2015 in Austin.
The Education Summit will provide parents with four workshops and information booths, including information about school choice options and a Q&A town hall meeting with parent panelists. The overall purpose of the Summit is to help raise awareness of the factors necessary to getting more students admitted to higher education.
More than 200 people are expected to gather at Southwest Key East Austin College Prep on January 24, 2015 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. to participate in the Summit.
"We look forward to bringing parents in East Austin together to help their kids achieve their educational goals," said Gavino Fernandez, Jr., LULAC District 12 Director. "The first step to creating a culture of student success is educating families about their opportunities and options."
El Concilio and LULAC District 12 have teamed up with other local civic organizations to engage local families in East Austin. This event is one of the components of that partnership.
