Luis Tiant Lends Support to Sunridge's PNT Glaucoma Treatment in Caribbean
FOUNTAIN HILLS, Ariz., March 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Sunridge International (OTC Bulletin Board: SNDZ) said today that Red Sox and Yankee star pitcher, Luis Tiant, is joining representatives of the company at a seminar on its Pneumatic Trabeculoplasty (PNT) non-invasive treatment for glaucoma in the Dominican Republic today.
The event, sponsored by S3G Inc., Sunridge's exclusive distributor in the DR, is being attended by over 40 local doctors in the nation's capital, Santo Domingo. The specially invited audience will hear Leo D. Bores M.D., describe the treatment, which has already been approved by the EU community and more recently by China's State Federal Drug Administration.
Luis Tiant, through his Charity, The Luis Tiant Foundation and Boston's Scientific Social Solutions Charity, has partnered with Sunridge International to bring the treatment to Cuba. Mr. Tiant is attending the meeting in the DR to help spearhead the fund raising drive and bring much needed media attention to the plight of glaucoma sufferers in the Caribbean region.
"Glaucoma is the second leading cause of blindness in the world, and these islands have an unusually high percentage of their population suffering from this disease. Hopefully events such as this will focus attention on the need to bring effective and affordable alternative treatment to help the many thousands of glaucoma sufferers in this and other regions of the world," said Mr. Tiant.
"It's seminars like this, that will help demonstrate the effectiveness of Sunridge's patented PNT procedure," said Sam Amegan, President of S3G. "This is an effective, affordable and highly versatile alternative treatment providing great portability and mobility. It will allow people to receive treatment they would otherwise be unable to access." Mr. Amegan went on to say; "we have approximately 50 doctors signed up for a second meeting to be held in Santiago that will take place on Thursday, March 25th. With almost 1-1/2 million people suffering from the disease in the Dominican Republic, glaucoma is an alarming problem which we are taking very seriously."
