As Program Director, Lucy is responsible for engineering research systems for first in man clinical use, fostering innovation, program supervision, and project management.
Presently, Lucy's duties include the engineering of the research systems for first in man use in Medtronic's Cardiac Rhythm Management division. With her background in project management, she leads project managers and works with research and technology directors to transfer design concepts into fruition. She also leads a program that fosters innovation by granting funds to prototype new concepts.
Lucy is a member of the National Association of Professional Women, I.E.E.E., Trust Women in Healthcare, and Life Science Alley. To keep up with the latest advancements in Healthcare, Lucy attends seminars at Life Science Alley and Trust (Women in Healthcare). She also attends industry-related conferences as well as internal Medtronic Science and Technology conferences to foster innovation and promote exchange of ideas. Her advice to those starting out in the Healthcare industry is to "Deliver results, love what you do and never stop learning".
In addition to her position with Medtronic, Lucy is the President and Co-Founder of Zetwal Mission Outreach, which is a non-profit organization that provides healthcare and educational services in Haiti, Africa and the US. Upon her initial trip to Haiti, she saw the opportunity to create educational programs and support healthcare initiatives to make a lasting impact on local communities. Lucy has been successful ever since.
Looking into the future of Zetwal Mission Outreach, Lucy hopes to expand the board, raise funds and awareness to further develop relevant and meaningful programs for their constituents to support their vision of a better world where they can shine their best light.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, walking, and gardening. Lucy is a black belt in Tae Kwon Do as well. A mother of three, she also sponsors three children through World Vision. Lucy sponsors Shaka who lives in Zambia, and Saveline and Bendy in Haiti.
Throughout the course of her educational career, she earned a Master's degree in Computer Science and Technology from the University of Minnesota.
