SOUTH JORDAN, Utah, Feb. 27, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Lucidchart, the visual productivity platform that drives innovation and collaboration, announced today a successful 2017 marked by international expansion and new technology that added unprecedented power to visual productivity in the cloud. With a record-setting tide of customer growth, new hires, and partnerships with major enterprise software providers, Lucidchart is helping companies across the globe work visually.
"2017 was a pivotal year for Lucidchart," said Karl Sun, co-founder and CEO of Lucidchart. "In our early history, we succeeded by building an online alternative to Visio, but our vision goes far beyond that. We're building the essential productivity platform for the modern worker to allow for unprecedented clarity around thought and communication. 2017 was the year we laid the framework for this through key partnerships and new data integration and automation features. As we continue to scale, we're excited to provide even more opportunities for users to utilize Lucidchart seamlessly as they work."
In addition to increased power in the Lucidchart editor and a focused effort toward international expansion, the company deepened integrations with leading software companies. With enhanced integrations for Google, Atlassian, Microsoft and AWS and new integrations with industry leaders like Quip and Salesforce, Lucidchart is available to users anywhere they work.
Lucidchart proved its success in 2017 by reaching the 10 million user mark, with representation in 96 percent of the Fortune 500 and users from over 180 countries. To support the company's rapid expansion, Lucidchart grew its workforce by 58 percent, adding 133 new hires and expanding to a brand-new 106,000 square-foot headquarters in Salt Lake City.
From helping sales managers be more strategic in their outreach through mapping out prospective organizations to providing an efficient way for IT directors to visualize their infrastructure, the Lucidchart platform saves users on average 2.9 hours per week.
Some of the key features that drove Lucidchart's growth and user productivity last year include:
Expansive internationalization:
- Launched the Lucidchart editor in five new languages (Spanish, Portuguese, German, French and Dutch).
Powerful visual productivity features:
- Dynamic Diagramming: Built feature that allows users to connect flowchart shapes to live data from imported spreadsheets.
- Conditional formatting: Built two types of conditional formatting for connected data in diagrams: rules to change shape and line color, style, and width, or rules that attach icons like colored circles, checkmarks, and warning signs to shapes.
- AWS auto-layout: Improved the AWS import solution so it automatically lays out each VPC as a network topology diagram when users import their AWS architecture.
- Mobile app updates: Updated both Android and iOS Lucidchart apps, including enabling commenting.
- New editor: Fully revamped the Lucidchart editor with more intuitive controls, full-screen mode, Feature Find, and a library for custom shapes to create an optimized user interface.
Growing partnerships
- Google Slides add-on: Collaborated with Google for the launch of Google Slides add-ons, releasing an add-on that enables users to directly insert diagrams from within Slides.
- Quip integration: As a sponsor at Dreamforce in November, Lucidchart announced a partnership on the Quip Collaboration Platform that allows users to embed Lucidchart diagrams directly into Quip documents.
In recognition of the company's achievements and outstanding team, Lucidchart received many distinguished awards in 2017, including:
