LSI MegaRAID 6Gb/s SATA+SAS Controllers Receive Product of Year Awards From China's Top IT Portals

MILPITAS, Calif., March 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- LSI Corporation (NYSE: LSI) today announced that LSI™ MegaRAID® SAS 9200 series of 6Gb/s SATA+SAS controller cards have been named the 2009 Product of the Year in the enterprise storage category by online publications ZDNet China and IT168. The awards are two of China's most prestigious technology awards.

ZDNet China and IT168 are two of China's leading IT portals, each reaching more than 20 million registered readers. ZDNet China's Technology and Product Excellence Awards recognize the most innovative and cost-effective enterprise storage products and services announced in 2009. IT168's Product of the Year Awards recognize the most popular products released in 2009. Editors from each publication independently chose the MegaRAID SAS 9200 series controllers based on their performance, scalability and availability.

Introduced in July 2009, MegaRAID SAS 9200 series controllers support SATA and SAS hard disk drives (HDDs), solid-state drives (SSDs) and self-encrypting drives, and are powered by the LSISAS2108 6Gb/s SAS RAID-on-Chip (ROC).

The controllers double the data transfer rates of their 3Gb/s predecessors to deliver superior levels of RAID performance and scalability for internal and external storage. The controllers are designed to enable cost-effective, high-performance and high-capacity storage solutions for workloads ranging from email and database applications to streaming video, online transaction processing (OLTP), data archiving and cloud computing.

The MegaRAID SAS 9200 series controllers were the first in a series of LSI next-generation products based on 6Gb/s SAS technology. Additional 6Gb/s SAS-based products include LSI 3ware® 9750 series RAID controllers and LSI SAS 9200 series host bus adapters (HBAs).
