LS Research announces uBleu2™, a high performance Bluetooth® 2.1 +EDR and Bluetooth low energy 4.0 radio module in a small, cost effective, pre-certified footprint.
CEDARBURG, Wis., Aug. 21, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- LS Research (LSR) today announced the uBleu2™, Bluetooth® 2.1+EDR, Bluetooth low energy (BLE) 4.0, FCC / IC / CE certified module. The uBleu2 is based on the CC2564 solution from Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI). This certified module provides customers with multiple off board antenna options, offers a -20 to +70° C temperature range, and delivers two times more distance between the aggregator and the BLE sensor device than competitive, single mode, BLE solutions. Additionally, to quickly enable manufacturers wanting to add the uBleu2™ to their product lines, LSR is providing antenna design support, Bluetooth® stack integration and application development, and system level design to customers.
LSR's new uBleu2™ module provides customers the ability to quickly and cost effectively implement dual mode Bluetooth® Smart Ready solutions. The small form factor of 7mm x 7mm x 1.5mm is primarily targeted for applications in sport and fitness, consumer wellness, security and proximity, computer peripherals, entertainment and more. The technology used is designed and built to provide best-in-class Bluetooth/Bluetooth low energy RF performance.
"TI's strategy is to reduce engineering barriers and accelerate time-to-market for customers adopting our wireless products. A major part of that is simplifying the RF design integration and certification challenges inherent to working with radio technologies," said Matt Kurtz, channel marketing manager, wireless connectivity solutions, TI. "We're excited to work with LS Research as they leverage our CC2564 to provide this best in class Bluetooth/Bluetooth low energy module solution to the market."

TI's CC2564 solution is complemented by LSR's turnkey hardware design services, in-house EMC certification services and software capabilities – all aimed at providing customers with a full-service option to quickly bring wireless connectivity designs from the drawing board to production.
