LPP Combustion, LLC and HARC Reach Agreement for Environmentally Friendly Drilling Field Trial
BALTIMORE, July 8, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- LPP Combustion, LLC announced today that it has signed an agreement with the HARC Environmentally Friendly Drilling Systems program (EFD) to establish a field trial to demonstrate and evaluate an LPP Combustion power generation system at an operating well site and publish the results. According to Dr. Richard (Rick) Roby, CEO of LPP Combustion, "Participating in HARC's Environmentally Friendly Drilling Systems program is a welcome and logical next step in commercial deployment of LPP Combustion products. The oil & gas industry highly values operating experience in the field under real life conditions, and we look forward to meeting or exceeding their expectations for reliable well site power generation with low emissions and reduced cost." While a 30 kW mobile commercial demonstration LPP Combustion system has successfully operated for several thousand hours on a wide variety of flare gases and light liquid fuels, including Bakken Y-grade, sustained operation at a commercial well site and third party validation of the results by HARC/EFD is an exciting development for LPP Combustion.
Rich Haut, program director of HARC's Environmentally Friendly Drilling (EFD) program, added, "We believe that LPP Combustion offers an exciting, unique, patented product that can help meet the environmental goals of the our sponsors and partners. HARC/EFD and LPP Combustion agree that an unbiased, scientific approach to addressing environmental aspects of drilling will lead to important new products being vetted through the EFD program and are pleased to be working with LPP Combustion to locate, plan, and document a suitable field trial of this technology." The EFD program works with their project team and sponsors to develop and demonstrate cost effective technologies that include monetizing stranded gas and reducing or eliminating gas flaring and/or methane emissions associated with oil & gas production.
LPP Combustion, LLC has developed and patented a lean, premixed, prevaporized fuel preparation system that, combined with a commercial gas turbine, provides a packaged, skid-mounted solution to reduce the emissions and cost of well site electrical generation. For the oil & gas industry, LPP Combustion turn-key power generation systems will range in size from 30 kW to 60 MW, to provide well site electric power, micro grids, and drilling and fracking power generation needs. The LPP Combustion products use flares gases and other low cost opportunity fuels, such as natural gas liquids (NGLs), to produce electricity. An LPP Combustion skid can vaporize any blend of flare gas or NGLs into a substitute natural gas to meet the desired fuel properties of a normally natural gas-fired gas turbine, thereby eliminating the need to flare at the well site while providing natural gas level emissions. In well site locations where diesel generators are currently used for power generation, an LPP Combustion product can reduce the cost of electricity by up to 75% while reducing air emissions by more than 90%.
