COLLINGWOOD, ON, March 30, 2015 /CNW/ - The school known for removing its WiFi and banning cell phones in the classroom swept the Simcoe County Science and Technology Fair this weekend.
Pretty River Academy entered fourteen students and every one of them captured a regional medal, including the fair's top prize. Ted Stuart, a grade 10 student, won top honours for his project removing phosphorus from agricultural run-off into local waterways.
"We're extremely proud of this year's team," said Brayden Plummer, Headmaster at Pretty River Academy. "Ted's project helps the future of clean agriculture which is a relevant issue both locally and globally."
Judges also selected seven students from across Simcoe County to join Team Ontario at the national level. Three of them are students at Pretty River Academy.
Pretty River's Ted Stuart, Elias Andersen, and Zane Frantzen will join Team Ontario to compete at the Canada-Wide Science Fair May 11-16. Anderson won for building a refrigerated bread-box, and Frantzen designed software that delivers the perfect piece of toast.
