MIAMI, Feb. 19, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Black Dragon Capital, a growth driven private equity firm focused on technology investment opportunities in industries disrupted by digitization, announced the sale of EnterWorks to Winshuttle LLC, a portfolio company of Symphony Technology Group (STG) Ventures. A leading provider of multi-domain product information management (PIM), digital asset management (DAM), and master data management (MDM), EnterWorks is moving into the next phase of growth and expansion.
"I'm very excited for the team at EnterWorks as the company advances to another level of development with accelerated global opportunities. The acquisition will allow the company to become part of a larger and well-funded platform for growth that will continue to outpace the market," said Irwin Kramer, former chairman of EnterWorks and a recognized e-commerce leader.
Black Dragon acquired EnterWorks in 2015 and went to work to transform a company facing competitive challenges into the top performer in its space. Black Dragon's seasoned team of entrepreneurs and business professionals recruited high-performance leadership to work with the existing team and software platform, while contributing operational guidance to improve product positioning and set the stage for a rapid expansion of the EnterWorks customer base.
As a result, EnterWorks is highly ranked by research analysts, is a market growth leader, and is winning major deals with major brands. It was named a leader in The Forrester Wave™: Product Information Management Solutions 2018 report. Analyst reports such as Gartner Magic Quadrant for MDM, Information Difference's MDM landscape, and the MDM Institute all list EnterWorks among the best data management platforms for 2019.
"Black Dragon Capital, in working with the outstanding team at EnterWorks, showed that the operator-led investment model works. In a few short years, we created a highly successful, surging company in an important area of e-commerce and data management solutions that now enjoys broad industry recognition and substantial growth. I'm extremely proud of the superb performance and recognition that this outstanding team has delivered," said Louis Hernandez Jr., founder, managing director and CEO of Black Dragon Capital.
EnterWorks' software products have helped companies, including Restoration Hardware, Johnstone Supply, Mercer, Mary Kay and Fender Musical Instruments, to manage and transform product information into persuasive content for multi-channel commerce. The company, which was founded in 1998, is based in Sterling, Va.
"It has been my honor to work closely with the incredible leadership team at EnterWorks. Together, we created something very special, and I believe the company is well positioned to grow for years to come," said Black Dragon partner Tim Greenfield, who served on the EnterWorks board of directors.
Raymond James acted as financial advisor to Black Dragon Capital and EnterWorks. The Miami law firm Akerman LLP acted as legal counsel on the sale.
