Louis Chenevert Elected to Cargill Board of Directors
MINNEAPOLIS, June 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Louis R. Chenevert, chairman and chief executive officer of Hartford, Conn.-based United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX), has been elected to the Cargill Board of Directors.
"Louis brings a tremendous background of leadership and management experience that will serve our board well," said Greg Page, Cargill chairman and chief executive officer.
Chenevert was named chairman and CEO of United Technologies in 2010, after serving as its president and CEO since 2008. He has been a director since 2006. Previously, Chenevert was president of Pratt & Whitney from 1999 through early 2006. Before joining Pratt & Whitney, Chenevert spent 14 years in leadership positions with General Motors.

Chenevert earned a bachelor of commerce degree in production management from the Universite de Montreal, Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commericales. He is vice chairman of the Business Council, and a member of the U.S.–India CEO Forum and the Business Roundtable. He also serves on the board of directors for the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation, and is chairman of the Yale Cancer Center's advisory board.
Chenevert joins five other independent directors on Cargill's board: Richard H. Anderson, chief executive officer of Delta Air Lines, Inc.; Arthur D. Collins, Jr., retired chairman and chief executive officer of Medtronic, Inc.; Linda Zarda Cook, former executive director of Royal Dutch Shell plc; Bernard Poussot, former chairman, chief executive officer and president of Wyeth; and Richard M. Kovacevich, chairman emeritus of Wells Fargo & Company.
