Lotsa Helping Hands Responds to Landmark Study on Caregivers of Veterans by Formally Launching a Military and Veterans Channel of its Caregiving Coordination Service
Wounded Warrior Project joins as company's first partner
MAYNARD, Mass., Nov. 18, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Lotsa Helping Hands, the leading provider of a web-based caregiving coordination service, today launched a specialized version of its service for military and veterans' families coping with medical crisis and caregiver exhaustion.
"All of us in the caregiving community were struck by the landmark study conducted by UnitedHealth Foundation and the National Alliance for Caregiving.* According to the study, caregivers of veterans bear a heavier burden when compared to caregivers nationally. In fact, they provide care to loved ones for a longer period of time and report a higher level of stress and physical strain. At Lotsa Helping Hands, we are committed to providing solutions to these caregivers through our service and hope it gives respite and relief to our nation's military families," says Hal Chapel, Co-Founder and CEO.
The company's first partner for its military and veterans channel, Wounded Warrior Project (WWP), is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to honor and empower wounded warriors. WWP provides resources for wounded warriors and their families within the private online community, My Care Crew, powered by Lotsa Helping Hands.
Lotsa Helping Hands is a free service and includes an intuitive group calendar for community members to schedule and sign up for tasks that provide respite for the family caregiver including meals delivery, rides to medical appointments, and visits; customizable sections that facilitate communication among community members, such as posting photos, well wishes, and message boards; and a vital information section giving the family the ability to securely store and retrieve vital health data, emergency contacts, medications, and legal and financial records for designated members of the community.
The formal launch of the Lotsa Helping Hands military and veterans channel marks the company's commitment to promoting the specialized service with relevant resources for caregivers of veterans in collaboration with a growing list of organizations that serve this constituency.
