LOS ANGELES, April 18, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Los Angeles Youth Network (LAYN) announces the appointment of Jeremy Rosenthal to its board of directors.
Jeremy, a partner at Sidley Austin LLP, an international law firm, practices corporate reorganization and bankruptcy law. His legal services cover many industries, including: publishing, entertainment, technology, energy, manufacturing, automotive and real estate.
When asked about joining the LAYN board Rosenthal said, "I looked at the world around me and asked, 'what can I do, how can I help?' It was then, I was introduced to LAYN and their great work providing housing, education, mental health services and career development for some of the most vulnerable kids in Los Angeles, and knew immediately this was an organization I wanted to be a part of."
"We are thrilled to have Jeremy's passion and expertise join our board of directors," said Teo Martinez, LAYN's Board Chairman. "LAYN's unique approach is enriched by the compassion and energy of our leadership and this can't be said more for Jeremy."
Rosenthal joins LAYN during a time of great need for the Los Angeles youth homeless population and foster care system. It is estimated that there are more than 28,000 youth in the foster care system in Los Angeles County. The number of homeless youth varies by criteria, however in 2015, the Los Angeles County Office of Education estimated this number to be closer to 55,000.
Annually, LAYN houses over 500 youth, provides more than 16,000 bed nights and 97,000 meals, to youth 12-21 years old. In September, the organization will be celebrating 32 years of service to the community by hosting its annual Key of Hope Gala.
