"I am happy to join the Jewish Home team as we face the challenges of caring for a rapidly growing senior population," said Schreck. "I look forward to my work with the board, staff, volunteers, and residents to further the Home's mission of providing exceptional care for our community's seniors. Los Angeles is blessed to have a visionary Jewish Home that continues to expand and adapt to meet the needs of our community. To be part of such an organization is a privilege."
An experienced fundraising professional, Schreck recently was the principal of Schreck & Associates, a non-profit consulting company. Prior to establishing Schreck & Associates in 1995, he served for twelve years as Vice President for Development at the University of Judaism (now the American Jewish University) in Los Angeles, and six years as Director of Israel Bonds in Boston, Massachusetts. Schreck has served on the boards of such non-profit organizations as Brandeis-Bardin Institute, Los Angeles Hebrew High School, and the Wildwood School. He is currently a lecturer in the MBA program at the American Jewish University. Schreck earned both his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees from City College of New York.
Schreck has experience in all areas of annual and capital campaign management, with special emphasis in the areas of campaign analysis and design, staff management, board and leadership development and training, and major gift fundraising for building fund and endowment campaigns. "Ira brings great energy and terrific ideas, as well as impressive fundraising experience in the nonprofit and Jewish communities," said Michael Heslov, chair of the Home's board of directors. "We're looking for him to develop and implement new and creative ways to reinvigorate our annual giving campaign, while working on other fundraising initiatives."
